About me

@Nike

While at Nike, I had the opportunity to work in three different Design roles.  I started out in Cross-Category Outerwear as a Design II, fulfilling the outerwear needs for all relevant Nike categories.  From there, I moved into a Senior Design role working on Inline Basketball apparel (both performance and lifestyle).  With the acquisition of the NBA by Nike, that role transitioned into a Basketball Inline Innovation Design role to help support the category relationship with NXT, address any long lead time projects for the category, and the league.

Basketball Inline Innovation Design (Senior Design +)

-Concept/design of new identity for the Indiana Pacers 2017/1018 season

-Worked closely on the NBA AeroSwift chassis + peripheral product collections, including direct involvement with seasonal materials/trims platform developments and new construction techniques to achieve maximum athletic performance

-Worked on translating NBA team identities into the Nike AeroSwift chassis to ensure consistent performance for each team across the league with no loss of performance or team identity

-Obtained a patent for increased linear stretch through reductive design on Bemis SRT-4000/Bemis SRT-5000 (Patent #WO2017004049 A1)

-3 additional patents are currently pending, and will be published later on this year

Basketball Inline Apparel Design (Senior Design)

-Helped to reset the strategy on the shorts offense

-Redesigned the performance shooters offering

-Refreshed the Elite Stripe strategy on Nike basketball apparel

Cross Category Outerwear Design (Design II)

-Designed/developed custom snowboard/freestyle ski outerwear collections for 6 different countries participating in the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

Results:

-Ayumu Hirano representing Japan won a silver medal in Mens Halfpipe

-Kevin Rolland representing France won a bronze medal for Mens Freestyle Ski Halfpipe

-Had two of my SB designs featured on the Wheaties box when Sage Kotsenburg won his gold medal in Sochi

-Interpreted Nike seasonal creative direction into cohesive outerwear collections for 5 different Nike categories.  Categories included Jordan, Performance Training, Global Futbol, SB, and Basketball

@Columbia Sportswear Highlights

During my time as Senior Design at Columbia, I had the opportunity to work with a broad range of product teams and on many different product types.  Mens/Womens performance outerwear was my main focus, which included hiking/backpacking/ski/snowboarding.  I also worked on paddling, offshore fishing, hunting, and travel.  For the 2010 Olympics, I concepted/designed/developed the outerwear worn by the Canadian Freestyle Ski Team in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

Results:

-Alex Bilodeau won a gold medal in Mens Moguls, it was the first gold medal ever won by a Canadian on Canadian soil.

-Jen Heil won a silver medal in Womens Moguls.

-The outfit is housed in the Canadian Ski Hall of Fame in Quebec
